Literacy Specialist

Tânsi!

My name is Sage Mitchell and I am the Literacy Specialist for Elsie Fabian School. I am a Cree and Saulteaux woman and my family is from Cowessess First Nation in Saskatchewan. Although my family is from that territory, my roots have remained in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. I was born and raised in Fort McMurray and have lived there most of my life, but I've been excited to start teaching in the beautiful community of Fort McKay.

I have a BMus in music performance from the University of Lethbridge. I spent many years playing with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra and also teaching private music lessons before deciding to go back to university to get my BEd in general and arts education. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made as I quickly discovered a passion for educating others and inspiring the next generation of students. I have been teaching for a few years but I am really excited to be here at Elsie Fabian School! I feel blessed to be here and I cannot wait for what this new school year brings!
